Thinking outside the lunch box

There are 3,287 and a half good reasons – at the very least – for making lunches: food allergies, wanting to love what we’re eating, gaining time, saving a little money, saving more money, saving so much money, and more! Lunch bags and boxes start getting toted around from the toddler years, so why not make their contents full of vitamins, nutritionally balanced and at least a little interesting. Layer the salad in a jar, put the yogurt in the freezer overnight so it’s still nice and cool at lunchtime, include an oversized sandwich or use alphabet pasta just for the fun of it. And it’s not only kids who like surprises. A riddle or joke written on a napkin or a “knock ’em dead” note wrapped around a brownie on exam day are also forms of nourishment, offering food for thought or emotional support. We’ve got tons of ideas to share with you!
